CI Pride

Calling all kings, queens and queers – CI Pride needs you!

As Liberate has gone Pan-island, the theme for Pride 2016 is #UnitedThroughPride. Pride Week kicks-off in Guernsey on Saturday 10th September 2016 with a parade and celebration of all things diverse. There will be events taking place in both islands, including movie nights, Educate and Celebrate workshops, Munch and Learn lunchtime sessions, Jersey’s first ever Equality and Diversity Awards ceremony, and a spectacular Pride-flag handover event which will see the rainbow flag flown to Jersey and dropped over St. Aubin’s Bay with a member of the Liberate team quite literally flying the Pride colours!

Pride Week will close in Jersey on Saturday 17th September 2016 with the Jersey Pride parade, which will begin at West’s Centre and continue along a similar route to last year, ending in Weighbridge Square. Here you will find the Pride epicentre with markets selling food and merchandise, and a variety of entertainment on stage until late. A very special guest will close the show - word on the rainbow-coloured-street is, this person’s a huge gay icon and is not to be missed!

Liberate welcomes everyone irrespective of gender identity, sexual orientation or species – so if you want to bring your furry friend that’s no problem, just tie a rainbow flag around their neck and fill your pockets with poop bags! All they ask is that you wear lots of bright colours and bring your happy face. Oh, and a small donation might be nice too – see the rattling buckets to make a deposit.

Official Pride t-shirts and merchandise is available from Magic Touch in Weighbridge Place anytime up to the 17th September, and will also be available in Weighbridge Square on the day. Further information can be found on the CI Pride website: www.channelislandspride.org
